Baseboard removal with the Zenith by Danco Trim Puller is a quick process. Zenith by Danco Trim Puller is specifically designed for easy trim removal, leaving no damage to the drywall underneath. It comes with a ground level on the edge of the trim puller, so it can easily be driven between the wall and tool to release the seal. The unique wedged center allows easy extraction without damaging the wall or panel.
To remove, locate the seal and wedge the Zenith by Danco Trim Puller between the baseboard and the wall to break the seal. Start at one end of the baseboard and work your way down to separate the baseboard from the wall to prevent damage completely. We suggest storing leftover baseboards as they can be reused for another spring DIY project!
The Zenith Trim Puller is available on Amazon, Lowes, and the Home Depot.
Prepare Hardwood Floors
Hardwood Flooring is connected to the subflooring with nails or glue. It is important to remove the hardwood floor without damaging the subfloor. To do this, use a circular saw to cut the hardwood into small sections slightly less thin than the width of the flooring to protect the subflooring. Cut lines perpendicular to the way the wood is faced. Be sure to wear protective gear as this can create tons of dust and debris.
Lift Hardwood Floor
Once the flooring is divided into sections, you may now remove the flooring. The Zenith by Danco Floor Lifter is ideal when removing hardwood and tile flooring. It safely removes hardwood floors, ceramic tiles, trim, and nails. The integrative center wedge and long design provides ultimate removal efficiency & deep insertion of flooring materials, baseboards, and trim. The Floor Lifter is also excellent for wooden or vinyl siding and oversized boards and planks. Wood, ceramic tile, just about any surface can be worked efficiently with the Floor Lifter.
Beginning from the edge of the floor, wedge the Floor Lifter, beneath the wood and tap the handle with a mallet or hammer to pry up the hardwood. Repeat this step until all pieces are removed. Be wary of nails from hardwood planks. The Trim Puller is designed with an integrative nail remover. Insert the Trim Puller under the base of the nail and remove it carefully.
The Floor Lifter and other Zenith by Danco tools are available on Amazon and at the Home Depot.
Lastly, dispose of leftover wood and debris that is not salvageable, collect stray nails or wood chips, and sweep up any dust to ensure a fresh space when you begin installing new floors!
